As we head into the final stretch before semester exams, next week is a critical time for our students. Our teachers will be working closely with them to review and prepare for these important assessments, which begin in just one more week. Attendance and punctuality are key—being here on time every day will greatly increase your student’s confidence and success on each test.

We also recognize that the holiday season brings a special energy to our school community. To celebrate, Morgan High will be getting into the spirit with a Winter Spirit Week, sponsored by our Student Government Association (SGA)! We encourage all students to participate in the fun. These activities help us continue building the positive culture they’ve worked so hard to create.

We are thrilled to share that Mr. Adrian Sarmiento, Morgan High School’s Workforce Program Advisor, has been named a Hillsborough County Schools Ida S. Baker Diversity Educator of the Year Finalist!

Mr. Sarmiento’s journey is a true testament to the power of education and community. He grew up right here in our area and was taught in elementary school by none other than our school’s namesake, Ms. Aquilla J. Morgan. Today, he continues that legacy by guiding our students toward meaningful career pathways and workforce opportunities. His dedication to diversity and inclusion reflects the values we hold dear at Morgan High.

Please join us in congratulating Mr. Sarmiento on this incredible honor. We look forward to cheering him on in January at the Excellence in Education Awards as he proudly represents Morgan High and our entire community!

Parents and guardians can now report student absences online at any time using our convenient Absence Reporting Form.

Please note the following guidelines:

Absences reported after 7:00 AM on the day of the absence may not update records before the start of school. However, all absences will still generate an automated notification.

Absences must be reported within 48 hours of the missed school day to be reflected in attendance records.

Submitting the form does not guarantee the absence will be excused. Families may use the form for up to 6 excused absences per school year. After that, a doctor’s or professional note is required.

Supporting documentation (e.g., doctor’s note, funeral program, court request, military forms) must be uploaded to the Focus Parent App or delivered directly to the school.

When completing the form, please include your child’s full name and student ID to ensure accurate processing.

All Morgan students should now have their student ID card. IDs must be visible at all times while on campus.

• Need a replacement? Visit the office—replacements are $5.

• Lunch lines move faster when students use the barcode on their ID to scan.

• All school events moving forward will require an ID for entry.
