Welcome Back Letter 25-26

Bulls,

We are extremely excited and eager to welcome all of you to the “Bull Pen” for the 2025-2026 school year! I hope you are each ready for a great school year full of educational opportunities and memorable activities/events. I look forward to seeing each of you on the first day of school, August 11th. For now, please review the information below so you are prepared and ready for a successful start to the school year.

All student schedules will be available via the FOCUS parent portal beginning August 6th. Please know that we are continuing to balance classes and make changes to the overall master schedule. These schedules are tentative and may change before the first day of school. In order to view schedules, you will have to have an active parent FOCUS account.

Our first day of school is Monday, August 11th.  All students will report to homeroom to obtain a new class schedule. Homeroom locators and other info will be posted on X, our website, and will be sent out via the BULLetin. The bell schedule for this school year has some minor changes. We will dismiss at 2:35P.M on early release Monday’s, and 3:35 P.M on non-early release days. The hours for the first week of school are as follows; Monday- 8:35-2:35 and Thursday through Friday, 8:35A.M.-3:35P.M. Please check the district student calendar for more important dates via https://www.hillsboroughschools.org/calendars.

We will continue to communicate information during the summer and throughout the year using different outlets of communication. Please follow Bloomingdale on X @BloomingdaleSHS, on Facebook (Bloomingdale Senior High School), and on our website. We will also be sending our BULLetin newsletter once a week to all our families outlining important information and dates. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the school at 813-744-8018.

Once again, on behalf of our staff, teachers, and administration we look forward to welcoming all of you to the 2025-2026 school year!

Go Bulls!

Otherwise, the Creating a New Parent Portal Account guide can assist you with creating your new account. Dear Parents,

Thank you for your patience as our Guidance Counselors work hard to build and balance student schedules. We know this process can take a little time, and we appreciate your understanding while we ensure every student is set up for success.

Here’s our schedule for making updates:

Monday, August 11 – Wednesday, August 13

  • We will address any scheduling errors, conflicts, or duplicate classes during the class period in which they occur.

  • All corrections will be handled in the Media Center.

Thursday, August 14 – Thursday, August 21

  • Schedule changes for upperclassmen (juniors and seniors) will be our first priority so they stay on track for graduation.

  • Changes for underclassmen will be made as space allows.

  • Graduation requirements will always take priority.

Thank you again for partnering with us to make sure every student has the best start to the school year.

Free Breakfast & Lunch

Bloomingdale will offer free breakfast and lunch for ALL students this school year. Please review the letter below for more information.

Schedule Changes:

As the school year begins, student schedules may be adjusted to help balance class sizes and ensure compliance with Florida state statutes regarding class size limits. Our Guidance Team is working diligently to make sure all schedules are accurate and equitable.

Schedule Review Request Form

If your student has a concern about their schedule, they will have the opportunity to complete a Schedule Review Request Form using a QR code. This QR code will be made available soon. Once the form is completed, his/her School Counselor will review the request.

On August 11th, students should report directly to their Homeroom upon arrival to receive their updated schedule.

If a student notices an issue with their schedule on the first day, such as being placed in a class they’ve already passed, having two classes scheduled during the same period, or having a period with no assigned class, they should first report to the assigned class for attendance (if possible).  After notifying the teacher of the issue, the student will be directed to the Media Center, where a School Counselor will assist.

Important Graduation Requirement Update - House Bill 1105

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We wanted to share a quick update regarding House Bill 1105: this new law eliminates the “certificate of completion” option that was previously available for students who earned credits but had not yet met all state assessment or GPA requirements.

Beginning with the 2025–2026 school year, only students who meet all Florida graduation requirements will be awarded a standard high school diploma—and only those students will be eligible to participate in the commencement ceremony.

If you have any questions about your student’s progress or need support with meeting outstanding requirements, please don’t hesitate to contact our school counseling team. We’re here to support you every step of the way.

Thank you,

Announcement from Our Neighborhood Library:

This year, we will be offering Homework Help for the students who need a place after school to get things done. Additionally, we will have computers available for them to work on projects.

We will not be able to participate in the drop-off/pick-up line. Parents can pick up their children after the pickup line is closed by parking in a parking spot and having their child come out to them, or they can come and collect their child. Additionally, students should park on school grounds and not in the library’s parking lot.
