Freedom Families, As we enter the final stretch of the third nine weeks, I want to thank you for your continued partnership and support. With just two more weeks remaining until spring break, this is a critical time for students to remain focused, stay engaged in their learning, and finish the quarter strong.
We encourage students to use these final weeks to complete assignments, prepare for assessments, and seek help when needed. Consistent effort now can make a meaningful difference in academic progress and overall success.
Parents, this is also a great time to check your child’s grades regularly and review missing or upcoming assignments. Use Canvas to stay in communication with teachers if you have questions or concerns. Your involvement and encouragement at home play an essential role in helping our students stay motivated and accountable.
Thank you for your continued support as we work together to ensure a strong finish to the third quarter. We are proud of our students’ efforts and look forward to a successful conclusion before a well‑deserved spring break. |

CTE Teacher & Department Head
|
|
|
Since joining Freedom High School in August 2015, Mr. Nanns has been a driving force behind expanding student opportunities through Career and Technical Education (CTE). Now in his 17th year of teaching, with seven years previously spent at Williams IB Middle Magnet School, he continues to inspire students by opening doors to experiences and technologies that shape their futures.
What he enjoys most about his work is simple yet powerful. Giving students access to technology, tools, and experiences they may not otherwise have. He believes that when students are introduced to new ideas and hands‑on learning opportunities, they begin to see possibilities they never knew existed. His mission is to open those doors—once students walk through, they begin discovering their passions, talents, and potential. Through rigorous coursework, industry-based learning, and involvement in organizations such as FBLA, DECA, and FFA, along with the Business Academy, students are encouraged to step outside their comfort zones, take risks, and grow. They leave his classroom more confident, more capable, and more prepared for life after high school. He also emphasizes a core belief that sets Freedom’s CTE program apart: A student’s ability to pay should never determine their opportunities. This commitment ensures equitable access for every Patriot. For him, one of the best parts of being at FHS is the people. He describes the CTE team as professional, supportive, and collaborative, creating a strong sense of teamwork that directly enhances the student experience. Working alongside colleagues who share his passion makes every day meaningful.
Outside of school, he enjoys a full and active life. He is married to his wife, Melissa, and they are proud parents of twin boys currently in college. Coming from a long line of educators, teaching runs in the family. A sports enthusiast—especially when it comes to baseball—he considers himself highly competitive and loves to win! |

AP Capstone Seminar students have finalized their first Performance Assessment Task. This portion of the exam required students to work as a team to identify a real-world problem, research from different lenses, and write a 1200-word research report. Finally, students worked as a group to present an evaluation of potential solutions. |
