Freedom Families and Students - I hope you had a restful and enjoyable Spring Break. As we return to school, we are officially beginning the fourth nine weeks, and this is a critical time of the year for every student. The finish line is in sight, and together, we can make this final stretch our strongest yet.
With the fourth quarter underway, we will also be entering testing season beginning in April. These assessments are important opportunities for students to demonstrate their growth and learning from the entire year. Preparation, focus, and consistency will make a meaningful difference.
One of the most important factors in student success—especially during testing season—is daily attendance. Being present, on time, and engaged in class each day ensures students do not miss valuable instruction, review, and support. We strongly encourage families to schedule appointments and trips outside of the school day whenever possible during the coming weeks.
Let’s commit to finishing the year with determination, pride, and excellence. When we work together, our students thrive. I am confident in what our students can accomplish, and I look forward to celebrating their success in the weeks ahead. Thank you for all you do to support our school community. |

Paraprofessional, Access Department

This week, we’re proud to spotlight Samantha Speakman, a dedicated member of our ESE team whose journey at Freedom High School is truly a story of loyalty, heart, and family. A proud Freedom High School alumna from the Class of 2006, Mrs. Speakman returned to her home campus right after graduation—beginning her career that same fall as a paraprofessional and continuing to serve our students ever since.
Over the years, Ms. Speakman has witnessed Freedom grow and change, but what has remained constant is her love for the unique feel of our outdoor campus. As she puts it: “I can always step outside to get fresh air.”
For Ms. Speakman, Freedom isn’t just a workplace—it’s family. She had the special experience of working alongside her mother in the ESE department until her mom’s recent retirement, and now that family tradition continues with her niece joining the team as well.
When asked what she enjoys most, Ms. Speakman doesn’t hesitate: she loves seeing students grow—watching them learn, mature, and become more confident over time. The most rewarding part of her day is being right there with students during lessons, helping them access learning, stay engaged, and experience success in real time.
Ms. Speakman also shared how inspired she is by the Access teachers at Freedom, and especially by Mrs. Trent, whom she describes as incredibly helpful and deeply caring. That kind of teamwork and compassion is exactly what makes our school community so strong. We are grateful for Samantha Speakman—for her commitment, her consistency, and the way she brings a true “Freedom family” spirit to our campus every day. |
