Freedom Families and Students -
April is here, and while many of us are beginning to look ahead to summer, the weeks ahead are an important and critical time for our students. As we enter testing season, our focus remains on helping every student finish the year strong.
Our teachers and staff have worked hard to prepare students for success—not only those who need additional support, but also our high‑achieving students, who continue to need challenge, engagement, and growth. Every student’s learning matters, and these final weeks provide valuable opportunities to demonstrate progress and achievement.
To support this work, our school is taking steps to maximize instructional time and minimize missed learning. One way we are doing this is by reinforcing expectations that keep students in class, engaged, and focused throughout the school day. These efforts help ensure students are making the most of their learning time as we approach the end of the year.
As I share with our seniors each year, this is the time to take care of business. With strong attendance, consistent routines, and support from both school and home, our students are well‑positioned for success.
Thank you for your continued partnership, encouragement, and support. Together, we will finish the 2025–26 school year strong and celebrate all that our students have accomplished.

Danielle‑Angela Serrano began her teaching career at Freedom High School in February 2024, stepping into the classroom with a passion that had been years in the making. Teaching wasn’t just a career choice—it was a calling shaped by family tradition. With her father and many family members serving as educators in the Philippines, Ms. Serrano grew up surrounded by teachers and inspired by the impact they make every day.
A lifelong lover of history, Ms. Serrano has always been especially fascinated by U.S. Presidents, a topic that continues to spark curiosity and meaningful discussion in her classroom. What Ms. Serrano enjoys most about teaching is seeing the end product—watching how much her students learn and grow throughout the year. For her, there is nothing more rewarding than seeing confidence build, skills strengthen, and understanding deepen over time.
When asked what advice she would give to new teachers just starting out, Ms. Serrano emphasizes the importance of confidence. Have more confidence in yourself as the leader of the class. Don’t be afraid to hold students to your expectations. Even though you are young, you are the teacher.
Outside of school, Ms. Serrano loves spending time with her 5‑year‑old son, who will be entering kindergarten next school year. Family adventures often include trips to theme parks, with Legoland and Universal currently in heavy rotation.
Over the last two years, Ms. Serrano has made an amazing impact in the Freedom High School Social Studies Department through her passion, professionalism, and commitment to student success. We are grateful to have her as part of the FHS family and look forward to many more great years ahead!
