This week, students will be taking their Semester 1 exams in most courses. Students should get plenty of rest each night, arrive on time to school before the 8:40 am bell and eat a good breakfast (free each day in the cafeteria) to be prepared and do well on these important tests. Exam grades are calculated into the students' semester grade average. Students who miss a scheduled exam can make up their exam on Wednesday, January 14th and Thursday, January 15th during the school day.

Each day this coming week, Tuesday through Friday, we will be on an early dismissal schedule. Please read the semester exam schedule below for all the details.

All students will receive a copy of their Semester 2 schedules on Monday, December 14th, in their first period class.

📣 Lennard High School Coastal Conservation Club participated in Saturday's Tampa Bay Waterkeeper Debris Derby. They made a real impression on those who were there. Everyone was really impressed with the club and the enthusiasm of our members. Freedom Boat Club went out of their way to let us know that they would like to collaborate with our club on a similar clean-up activity on the Alafia River after the new year, so stay tuned.

📣 Congratulations to Longhorns Jaiden Jones and Ronnie Wilson for being selected to the Football All Star Game!

📣Congratulations to our All-County Music Students! We are proud to announce and celebrate the outstanding achievements of our students who have been selected for All-County Ensembles! Their hard work, dedication, and talent have earned them this incredible honor. Congratulations to: Aaden Brooks – All-County Choir, Molly Moncrief – All-County Orchestra, Madison Moncrief – All-County Orchestra, Colton Price – All-County Choir, Tamara Yasin – All-County Choir, Ja’niya Williams – All-County Band.

📣LTC Dietz would like to introduce you to your Lennard JROTC 2026 Cadet of the Year, Isabela Stitt! Isabella will now compete against eleven other Hillsborough County Schools before being instated as the Area 9 Hillsborough County Cadet of the Year in February 2026.  Isabela is the Cadet Battalion Commander and plans to attend USF in the Spring.

📣All ten of our Raiders competed and finished every Best Raider event; it truly tested their grit and armor. These 10 cadets will be receiving a Best Raider Tab for their dress uniform and seven of the ten who competed are underclassmen who will be competing again next year. 

📣 Our Voices of Democracy Essay participants were invited to attend their Awards luncheon, with their families, at the Ruskin VFW Post 6287. Cadet Chlorie Leandre took home 1st place, and Cadet Matthew Gillett was awarded 2nd place. Additionally, the board votes this Wednesday on their monetary scholarship awards, which will most likely be $500 for Chlorie and $250 for Matthew. Chlorie will now move on to compete at the district level, whereas if she wins, then she is off to States in Orlando. ~ District VFWs cast their votes in January!

📣 Congratulations on a job well done! Our Lennard Longhorn Jazz Band performed at the Florida Aquarium.

Need to submit an absence?

Parents/guardians are expected to notify the school the day of the absence.

All absence documentation must be submitted within 72 hours of the student’s return to school.

Schools may require additional verification for frequent absences, including medical documentation after any excused absences within a grading period.

Attention Seniors - Important Class Rank Information!

If you are taking online classes through Hillsborough Virtual or FLVS, you must complete the course AND have the official grade report on your transcript before Friday, Jan 9, 2026, to count in the class rank calculation.

Class rank freeze will occur on Friday, February 20, 2026.  Otherwise, it will be added to semester two after class rank is determined.

As you prepare for your next steps after graduation, please be aware of the upcoming application deadlines for Florida's State University System. Many universities offer Early Action options with priority scholarship consideration, and deadlines begin as early as October 15, 2025.  

Here are a few key dates to keep in mind:

January 15 – March 1, 2026: Regular decision deadlines

May 1 – June 30, 2026: Final deadlines and rolling admissions

After-School Events Student Expectations

Please remember to follow the rules when attending.

No bags allowed, including backpacks and large purses.

Student IDs must be visible at all times. No entry without student IDs!

Middle school students must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

No re - entry; entry closed after the 3rd quarter.

School expectations and dress code are strictly enforced.

No noise makers.

Tardy Policy

Being on time to class is a key part of every Longhorn's academic success. Students are given 5 minutes between classes, with a 1-minute warning bell to help them stay on track. It’s important that students do not wait for the warning bell to begin heading to class—doing so may result in tardiness.

Students who linger after the warning bell may be escorted to In-School Suspension (ISS) for not following expectations. Arriving to class promptly ensures students don’t miss valuable instructional time and helps maintain a focused learning environment. Students are not allowed to leave class during the first and last ten minutes of each class.

Families, we encourage you to talk with your student about the importance of time management and being present in class. These habits not only support academic achievement but also build responsibility and respect for the school community.

Leaving Campus

Absolutely at no time is it permitted for any student to leave our campus to cross the street to 7-Eleven or anywhere else outside of the gate. Please have a conversation with your child to remind them how unsafe it is for them to leave campus when they are supposed to be in school.  Students who need to leave campus after they have arrived at school must be signed out through the main office of Student Affairs.

Some of the most common violations we are seeing are girls wearing tops that expose the shoulders or midriff/torso area and boys wearing ski masks, which are not allowed.

Disciplinary consequences are being applied for students not complying.

Student ID Policy

All students must wear their school ID visibly at ALL times. The IDs must be physically on their bodies, preferably on a lanyard (not attached to backpacks or purses).

All students have received their IDs at this time.

Any replacement ID is now $10 and can be ordered in the Media Center during the day (2nd and 3rd periods in Student Affairs).

IDs are required at all school events and must be visible at all times.

Longhorn Student Expectations!

Please continue to review Lennard's policies and expectations with your student(s) — especially dress code, mandatory ID, and the State of Florida law wireless device policies as well as all behavior expectations.

Consequences will be applied for students that are not following the school's policies. The policies and expectations apply at all extra-curricular activities.

Arrival and Dismissal

The hours for Early Release Mondays are 8:40 AM to 2:40 PM. Student hours Tuesday through Friday are 8:40 AM to 3:40 PM. All school gates will remain locked until 8:10 am.  At 8:10 AM, the buses will release students on the bus ramp, and the Student Affairs gate located off the Student Parking Lot will be opened.

Any student who arrives tardy to school before 8:50 AM needs to go directly to their First Period class through the black gate next to the main office in the front of the school. 

Students who arrive after 8:50 AM need to sign in at the main office before going to the First Period class. 

Please remember it is the expectation that every student is in his/her First Period class by the 8:40 tardy bell.

Carline Safety Reminder

Parents, to ensure the safety of all students, do not park on the car loop and turn around without completing the entire loop. This is extremely dangerous and cannot continue.

All students must cross at the crosswalk when crossing the street. Any student that does not cross at the crosswalk, at the corner, can be cited by the Sheriff’s Office for $75.00 fine. It is extremely dangerous to cross in the middle of the road when crossing the street.

Breakfast & Lunch Information

We want to remind you that both breakfast and lunch are free for all students this year. In the cafeteria there are different options available for lunch, and there are additional A La Carte snack items that students can purchase separately.

Please ensure that students arrive to school on time to be able to enjoy a hearty breakfast to start their day. Also, students are not allowed to order food delivery or leave campus to get food.

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL PARENTS AND STUDENTS

ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS FOR MINORS TO MAINTAIN THEIR DRIVING PRIVILEGE

State Law requires that students, 14 to 18 years of age, who have not earned a high school diploma, who have 15 unexcused absences in any period of 90 calendar days, be ineligible for driving privileges. School districts are required by this legislation to report to the State of Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV), the names of any students who have accumulated 15 unexcused absences in any period of 90 calendar days.

The student who is reported will be informed by the DHSMV that his/her name has been received and he/she may lose the privilege to drive. Should a student be contacted by DHSMV with information, he/she may initiate a request for a hardship waiver or a request for reinstatement of driving privilege through the Office of Student Affairs. A hardship for employment is based on verification of need. The factor to be considered is the extent to which a student provides a substantial financial contribution for his or her livelihood or his or her family’s needs. A hardship for medical care is based on the need for transportation, for the student or his or her immediate family members living in the same household, to access required treatment. Consideration should be given to whether there are any other licensed drivers residing in the household.

Effective January 5, 1999, students who accumulate 15 unexcused absences in any period of 90 calendar days will be reported by the school to the DHSMV. Please follow the attendance procedure that has been established to excuse absences when appropriate.

A partir del 5 de enero de 1999, los estudiantes que acumulen 15 ausencias injustificadas en cualquier periodo de 90 días de escuela serán reportados por la escuela al DHSMV. Por favor, siga el procedimiento de asistencia que se ha establecido para que no se reporten como injustificadas, ausencias que deberían ser justificadas.
