A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRINCIPAL & ASST PRINCIPAL

.

Dear Families,

Can you believe it’s already May? Where has the time gone? This school year has truly flown by! I want to take a moment to say thank you from the bottom of my heart to the Pride faculty, staff, students, and parents for all of the love shown on Principal’s Day. I am honored to work alongside the most amazing people each day and truly humbled by the trust you place in us with your children. Thank you for the thoughtful cards, sweet treats, hugs, and yes—the 100 pictures of me posted all around the school! I love coming to work every single day because of each of you.

And now, it’s time to celebrate the other AMAZING people who make Pride shine! Teacher Appreciation Week is here, and it’s going to be a swashbuckling good time as we set sail and celebrate the best crew on the seven seas. Be sure to check out the information below for fun and meaningful ways to spoil your teachers throughout the week—they certainly deserve it!

Our kindergarteners wrapped up testing last week and did a phenomenal job—way to go! Third, Fourth, and Fifth Graders, it’s your time to shine! You’ve been preparing all year, and we know you are ready. Keep a positive mindset, do your best, and show what you know. Parents, you can support your student by helping them get a good night’s rest, enjoy a healthy breakfast, and arrive at school on time so they can start the day feeling refreshed and relaxed.  Those smooth, stress-free starts truly make a difference!

The next few weeks will be filled with many exciting end‑of‑the‑year events. Be sure to review the upcoming dates and mark your calendars now—we can’t wait to celebrate all that our Pride family has accomplished this year! 🦁

Many Lions. One Pride!

Yo-ho-ho and onward we go!

Mrs. Meyer and Mrs. Moncrief

STUDENT PLACEMENT REQUESTS

This is the time of year when families often share input or preferences regarding classroom placement for the upcoming school year. With a school community of approximately 900 students, we are unable to honor requests for specific teachers.

Please know that our team is very thoughtful and intentional during the placement process. We carefully consider each student’s individual needs and do take parent input into account when determining the best possible placement. We invite you to use the link provided to share information about your child’s learning style, strengths, areas of need, interests, or any other details that may be helpful to us during this process.

While we cannot accommodate requests for specific teachers, we are committed to creating balanced, supportive classroom environments where every student can thrive.

Thank you for your partnership, understanding, and trust as we work together to ensure a successful school year for your child. We truly appreciate your support.

REQUIRED INSTRUCTION PHYSICAL EDUCATION

The State Board of Education requires every Florida school district under F.S. 1003.42(o), 1003.46, and our school board policy 2147 to provide instruction about human trafficking, mental health, water safety, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), reproductive health and disease prevention education (7th-9th grade), and substance use and abuse. Aligned to our goals for fostering a safe and nurturing learning environment, this requirement ensures positive support for our students' social, emotional, and physical health.

Schools will provide parent notification prior to beginning instruction on these topics. Parents have the right to opt-out of reproductive health and disease prevention education, as well as human trafficking education. If you have questions related to this content, please contact Mrs. Meyer.

The attached document provides an overview for each of the required instructional components and the grade level(s) they are taught

Ideally, we would like to have recurring volunteers, but any time you can help would be greatly appreciated! The role involves monitoring student behavior, assisting students with opening food items, escorting students to the bathroom or health clinic, helping with spills, etc...
