Storm Weekly Update

October 12 - 17, 2026

Principal's Message

Principal Jocelyn Maroon-Hart

Dear Chamberlain Families,

As we wrap up Quarter 1, we want to remind families that there is no school on Monday. We look forward to welcoming students back on Tuesday, October 13, as Quarter 2 begins.

Please note that we will operate on a special bell schedule on Tuesday and Wednesday to accommodate District Quarterly Assessments for students enrolled in Algebra 1, Geometry, Biology, and U.S. History courses. We encourage all students to arrive on time, be prepared, and do their best.

Let's start Quarter 2 strong by focusing on excellent attendance, punctuality, and coursework completion. Every day matters, and being present and engaged in class is one of the most important factors in student success.

In addition, students will have an opportunity to visit the Dreamcatcher Showcase on Friday during their lunch period. This event features a variety of post-secondary opportunities and will allow students to explore college, career, military, technical training, and other pathways available after graduation.

This week is also Homecoming Spirit Week! We are excited to celebrate Chamberlain pride throughout the week, culminating with our Homecoming Pep Rally on Friday afternoon and the Homecoming Dance on Saturday, October 17. Dance tickets will be available for purchase during lunch this week.

📚 Attendance Matters

To support timely arrival:

Breakfast lines close at 8:25 a.m. (first bell) to allow students time to arrive to class by 8:30 a.m.

Students who arrive late due to a school bus delay will receive a late bus pass and a grab-and-go breakfast upon arrival.

Students arriving on campus after 8:30 a.m. must enter through the main entrance and sign in using the attendance kiosk.

Students who arrive late and complete the sign-in process may receive breakfast with a late pass until approximately 8:50 a.m.

Please continue to follow all school arrival and dismissal procedures to help maintain a safe and efficient campus.

⏰ Tardy Expectations

One of our schoolwide expectations is that students are in their assigned area and on time throughout the school day. Students who accumulate excessive tardies will be subject to progressive discipline in accordance with school procedures.

We appreciate your partnership in reinforcing the importance of arriving to school on time, reporting promptly to each class period, and being prepared to learn. Please review the detailed tardy procedures and consequences in the Student Affairs Section below.

🪪 Student ID Reminder

Student IDs are an important part of maintaining a safe and secure campus. All students are expected to have their school ID on and visible at all times while on campus. Please help remind your student to bring and wear their ID daily. Additional details regarding the ID policy can be found in the Student Affairs Section below.

📱 Stay Connected Through FOCUS

As Quarter 1 comes to a close, please continue to monitor your student's attendance, grades, assignments, and academic progress through the FOCUS Parent Portal/App. Regularly reviewing your student's progress allows families to celebrate successes, address concerns early, and support students in finishing the quarter strong.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support. Together, we can help every Storm student have a successful finish to Quarter 1 and prepare for a strong second quarter.

⚡ Storm Rising! ⚡

Warm regards,

Jocelyn Maroon-Hart
Principal

Student Affairs Updates

Student Affairs Updates-As we continue to foster a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment, we ask for your support in reinforcing the following expectations with your student:

âś… Timely Arrival: Students are expected to arrive to class on time each day. Being punctual sets the tone for success and minimizes disruptions to learning.

⏰ Attending Classes: Students should be in all classes, every period, every day. Every minute of instructional time is significant to achieve student learning. Leaving campus before school, skipping classes, or trying to leave school early is not permitted and will be disciplined. Student safety and student learning are top priorities!

đź‘•đź‘–Dress Code:  We are committed to creating a welcoming, safe, positive, respectful environment for all students and staff. Part of this commitment includes encouraging appropriate attire that follows the school district’s dress code.

Please remember:

Â· Undergarments should be covered and not seen.

Â· Face coverings, including ski masks, are NOT allowed.

Â· Shirts with drugs, weapons, vulgar language/graphics, sexual content, violence or gang related signs and/or comments are NOT allowed.

Â· Pants are to be worn at the waist at all times.

Â· Midriffs, open backs, and excessive chest exposure are NOT allowed.

Thank you for partnering with us to make sure our school is as place where students can shine – both in their achievements and in the way they present themselves.

📞 Personal Devices: Phones, tablets, and headphones are not permitted during instructional time. This will allow students to focus on their class work and their learning without distractions.

🪪 ID / Badge Policies:  Once students have received their ID, the expectation is that they have their ID on at all times. Students cannot enter or move throughout the building without an ID. IDs must be worn, visibly at the waste or above. Students must present their ID at the request of any staff member at any time. Students caught with an ID other than their own will receive discipline.

Replacement student IDs will start at $3.

Thank you for partnering with us to ensure our students are prepared, respectful, and safe every day!

"What Referendum 3 Would Cost, and What It Would Fund"

Referendum 3 is not a new tax. It would renew the existing half-cent sales tax at the exact same rate, costing the average Hillsborough household about $8 a month. Groceries and prescriptions are exempt, and more than 25% of what's collected comes from tourists, not local residents.

If renewed, the tax would continue funding A/C, roofs, safety upgrades, and technology across the district through 2038. #halfpennypromise

Referendum 3 will be on the ballot November 3.
